For teachers and classrooms
An AI curriculum your students can actually drive
Thirty-three scripted quests teach students with Down syndrome, autism, and other IDD how to use AI: from a first hello to safety, daily living, and job skills. Free, no accounts, and safe by construction.
Built for your room
Zero setup, zero cost
No accounts, no installs, no licenses, no ads. Open ablemakers.org/learn on any browser and the first practice starts. Free forever, funded by donors.
Safe by construction
Every conversation is scripted ahead of time. No live AI ever talks to a student on our site, so nothing unexpected can appear. Safety skills (privacy, scams, when to ask a person) are quests of their own.
Built for access
Read-aloud, tap-only interaction, bigger-text mode, reduced-motion support, and no timers. We publish what is built, how it is checked, and what is not yet independently certified.
Real outcomes to point at
Students finish with real artifacts: a card, an email draft, a shopping list, a resume skills card, practiced interview answers. Every land ends with a printable certificate.
Read our plain-language record of current supports, automated checks, and known evidence limits on the accessibility and evidence page.
How a session runs
- Project or hand out devices; open ablemakers.org/learn. Progress saves per device.
- One student drives per device: they tap the glowing message to send it.
- Let the read-aloud finish before prompting. The pacing is deliberate.
- A quest takes ten to fifteen minutes: one skill, three or four exchanges, a badge.
- Finish the session on the map page so students see where they are on the journey.
The family guides double as staff training: the practice chat, rewards, safety, and how to help without taking over, each in a five-minute read.
Choose a ready-to-run first session
Start with the free 30-minute AI literacy lesson to teach what AI is, use the separate safety lesson for privacy and scam practice, or open the full workshop kit. Each option includes plain-language steps and account-free scripted practice.
