Staying safe

What should I never tell an AI?

Some things are private. Keep your full address, passwords, phone number, money details, and ID numbers out of AI chats. If a task seems to need personal information, stop and check with a person you trust before sharing anything.

The steps

  1. Learn the private list: address, passwords, phone number, money details, ID numbers.
  2. If a chat asks for any of them, do not answer.
  3. Practice saying: I keep that private.
  4. Show the chat to a person you trust.
  5. Feel strong. Refusing is the skill.

Stay safe

  • A real helper never needs your password. Ever.
  • Not sure if something is private? Ask before you share.

Questions people ask

How do I teach online privacy to someone with IDD?
Make it a short, practiced refusal instead of a lecture: name the private list, practice saying no in a safe chat, and celebrate the refusal. AbleMakers has a quest that does exactly this.
