What happens on the first visit, and what you need. Spoiler: nothing.
Nothing to set up
AbleMakers is free and works the moment the page opens. There is no account to create, no app to install, no payment screen anywhere, and no ads. Your learner can start their first AI practice in under a minute.
Everything runs in the browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. A tablet propped on the table works especially well, because the whole screen becomes one calm chat.
The first five minutes
From the home page, the big button says Try your first AI practice. The very first visit starts with a short, friendly setup: one question at a time, spoken out loud. It asks what to call your learner (any nickname, typed or spoken, or skip it and keep friendly Sam), which buddy they want, whether to read aloud, how big the words should be, and which chat colors they like. Every answer can be changed later in Settings.
Then the Practice Chat opens: a friendly helper greets your learner out loud and one ready-made message waits at the bottom of the screen. Your learner taps that one message to send it. The helper writes back, a star lands, and the next message appears. That is the whole interaction. No typing, no wrong answers, no time limits.
How progress saves
Progress saves on the device automatically, so closing the tab never loses a thing. The chat reopens exactly where your learner left off.
Signing in is optional and adds one thing: progress and preferences follow your learner to other devices. If they practice on the family tablet and later open their own phone, the chat continues from the same spot with their name, buddy, and colors waiting. Beyond the sign-in itself, the only personal thing stored is the optional nickname from setup, and it can be any name at all.
